Stripped and caged RAV4. But it doesn't appear to be built for any kind of competition or track driving. It's an automatic and appears to be otherwise untouched. I am confused.
Edit: it's not even caged, I just saw the harness attachment bar and thought it was.

Gotta have the extra safety to deal with the power straight pipes and dem gauges add.

If it started as a V6 Rav4, it's pretty quick. Besides, anything can roll if you push it hard enough.

Actually it just has harnesses and no cage. Pretty unusual build.

Is it just me or do those mounting points up by the shoulder bolsters look incredibly weak?

It is not just you, they look pretty bad. I'm not sure what went on here.

looks like tubing tacked to some flat plate so maybe 1/2" of contact? Which will give first.. the weld or plate?

Not anymore, but the previous generation or two had one, and they could hit 60 in the low to mid 5 second range.

269 HP. They were pretty ridiculous. Way faster than they had any right to be.

A v6 RAV4 was a real sleeper, actually. It was the fastest thing they built until the 5.7 liter Tundra...which is kinda sad when you think about it.

They are very quick cars, the mods to this are still rather unusual though.

Oh absolutely, my gast is very well flabbered by it. I like to imagine he runs rallycross with it, or is trolling his local track days.

I hope so. It would be amusing to see a RAV4 hitting the track.

There is, and it makes 270 horsepower...it's really surprisingly fast.

News to me, but then they're all diesels here. You couldn't give away a six cylinder petrol one.

I tell you hwat though, I do kinda dig that black stripe. It just sort of works for the car.

Mrs. rpM3 drives one...it is remarkably quick. She keeps talking about giving it to rpM3 junior in a couple years when she's due for something new...I don't know whether to be rooting for the kid to have a practical, safe sleeper (5.7 sec 0-60!) or to tell her it's too fast (um, and in terms of trade-in value, way too valuable)...
